To pre-order GTA 6 on PS5, open the PlayStation Store on your console, search for Grand Theft Auto VI, choose the Standard Edition ($79.99) or Ultimate Edition ($99.99) and complete the purchase. You can also do it from the PlayStation App on your phone or on the PlayStation Store website. Pre-ordering lets you preload the game from November 12, 2026 and gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Before you start
- A PlayStation Network account, signed in on your PS5
- A payment method or enough PSN wallet funds
- Enough free storage for the preload (we suggest at least 250 GB)
- About five minutes
Steps and prices checked on November 3, 2026. Store menus can change slightly over time.
Method 1: Pre-order on your PS5 console
- Open the PlayStation Store. From the PS5 home screen, select the PlayStation Store icon.
- Search for the game. Select the magnifying glass and type Grand Theft Auto VI. Make sure you pick the official Rockstar Games listing.
- Choose your edition. On the game page, select the edition you want: Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition. If you are unsure, read our Standard vs Ultimate guide.
- Select Pre-Order. Check the price and the listed bonuses, then confirm.
- Pay. Choose your payment method or wallet and confirm the purchase. You will get a confirmation email from PlayStation.
- Check your library. Go to your Game Library; GTA 6 should appear as a pre-ordered item.
Method 2: Pre-order from your phone
- Open the PlayStation App on Android or iPhone and sign in with the same account you use on your PS5.
- Tap the store icon and search for Grand Theft Auto VI.
- Pick your edition, tap Pre-Order and complete the payment.
- If your PS5 is in rest mode with downloads allowed, the preload can start automatically when it becomes available.
Method 3: Pre-order from a web browser
Go to the PlayStation Store website, sign in, search for Grand Theft Auto VI and follow the same steps. It is handy if you prefer a bigger screen when entering card details. Make sure you are on the official PlayStation website and not a copycat page.
Set up automatic downloads for the preload
Preloading starts at local midnight on November 12. To have it start without you:
- Go to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode and turn on Stay Connected to the Internet.
- Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates and turn on Auto-Download.
- Leave your PS5 in rest mode overnight from November 11.
Full details are in our GTA 6 preload guide.
What you get for pre-ordering
- Vintage Vice City Pack: a ’55 Vapid Stanier, a garage near Ocean Beach, retro outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a tropical weapon pattern.
- One month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders.
- Preload from November 12, 2026.
There is no early access. Everyone plays from November 19. Read how to claim the Vintage Vice City Pack once the game is out.
Can you cancel a PS5 pre-order?
Yes, within limits. Under the PlayStation Store cancellation policy, if you paid more than 14 days before release, you can cancel any time before the release date, as long as you have not started downloading the main game, and that includes preloading. If you paid within 14 days of release, you can cancel within 14 days of payment, again only if you have not started the download. Once the preload begins, you normally cannot get a refund. Cancellations are handled through PlayStation Support.
That matters for GTA 6: if you are unsure and have auto-download turned on, the preload will start on November 12 and may remove your right to cancel.
Pre-ordering from a shop instead
You can also pre-order the boxed Standard Edition from retailers. Remember that the box contains a download code rather than a disc, and boxed copies are released on November 12 so you can redeem the code and preload. To redeem it, go to the PlayStation Store on your PS5, scroll to the menu at the top and choose Redeem Code, then type in the code from the box. Retailer pre-orders follow the shop’s own cancellation rules, not PlayStation’s, so check them before you pay.
Common problems
- Pre-order button missing: make sure you are signed in and that your account region matches the store region.
- Payment declined: some banks block international online payments by default. Try enabling them in your banking app or add funds to your PSN wallet with a gift card from a trusted seller.
- Wrong edition bought: if you have not downloaded anything, you can request a cancellation and buy the right one. You can also upgrade from Standard to Ultimate later.
- Not showing in library: check your PlayStation transaction history and confirmation email.
Tips for buyers in Pakistan and other regions
The PlayStation Store you see depends on your account’s region, and prices and payment options differ between regions. Many players outside the US use PSN wallet top-up cards. Only buy cards from trusted shops, and make sure the card matches your account region, because cards from a different region will not work.
