GTA 6 Price: $79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate

GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the United States. Rockstar confirmed the prices in June 2026, a day before pre-orders opened, and they have not changed since. Both editions launch on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Why $79.99 is a big deal

For most of the PS5 and Xbox Series era, $69.99 has been the normal price for a big new game. GTA 6 adds another ten dollars to the base price. That was not a complete shock: Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, had hinted for some time that it saw GTA 6 as worth more than a typical release, and analysts expected it to test a higher price.

Our take is that the price is less surprising than what Rockstar did not do. There is no $120 “Gold” or Collector’s Edition this time, and no deluxe tier between Standard and Ultimate. Two editions, clearly separated, is simpler than what many publishers offer.

GTA 6 price in other regions

Prices vary by country because of local taxes and currency. Reports from launch week of pre-orders listed the Standard Edition at about £69.99 in the UK, €79.99 in Germany and 9,800 yen on the Japanese PlayStation Store, with Australia and New Zealand sitting around 140 local dollars.

If you live somewhere not listed here, including Pakistan, India or the Gulf, the most reliable price is the one shown on your own PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store page. Regional stores sometimes round prices differently, and local retailers may charge more for boxed copies.

What the $79.99 Standard Edition includes

The Standard Edition is the full game: the complete story of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos across the state of Leonida. Nothing in the main story is locked behind the more expensive edition. It is also the only version available as a boxed copy, although that box contains a download code rather than the whole game on disc.

If you buy before November 20, 2026, you also get the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders include one month of GTA+.

What the extra $20 for the Ultimate Edition gets you

The $99.99 Ultimate Edition includes everything in Standard plus a collection of extra items. Rockstar describes them as being “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story,” which means they unlock as you progress rather than all at once on day one. Coverage of the edition, including a detailed Forbes breakdown, lists extra vehicles such as a ’95 Grotti Cheetah, extra weapons, apparel, and several shops that only Ultimate owners can use, among them Rideout Customs and Sara’s Unisex Salon.

Can you upgrade later?

Yes. Rockstar has confirmed that Standard Edition owners can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition after release, and the upgrade costs the $20 difference. That makes the Standard Edition a low-risk choice: you can start with the base game and pay for the extras only if you decide you want them. See how to upgrade to the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition.

Are there any GTA 6 discounts?

Some retailers offer a pre-order price guarantee, which means you pay the lowest price they charge between ordering and release. That is a retailer promise, not a Rockstar discount, so check the terms with the store you use. Be wary of very cheap “GTA 6 keys” on unofficial marketplaces. Rockstar sells the game through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, its own Rockstar Store and authorised retailers.

Is GTA 6 worth $80?

That depends on how you play. GTA 5 has kept players busy for more than a decade, and the August 2026 Extended Look showed a huge range of activities, from the main story and robberies to fishing, racing and nightlife. If you play anything like that much, the price per hour works out very low. If you only want to finish the story once, waiting for reviews before buying is perfectly sensible. Reviews are expected close to launch, although Rockstar has not announced a review date.

How GTA 6 compares with past Rockstar launches

For context, GTA 5 launched in 2013 at $59.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and Red Dead Redemption 2 also launched at $59.99 in 2018. So in about 13 years the base price of a new Grand Theft Auto has gone up by $20. Development costs have climbed far faster than that over the same period, which is the argument Take-Two and many analysts make for the higher price.

Players are understandably less excited, especially in countries where currency changes have already pushed console games well above the US price. The good news is that the Standard Edition contains the entire story, so you are not forced into the more expensive version to get the full game.
